We chose Long Beach in part for its proximity to the ocean and its numerous activities and neighborhoods to explore on foot or by bike. We hope you'll take some time to explore the city!
Rent a bike and take the 4.5-mile Long Beach Bike Path from Shoreline Village. It's an easy ride along the beach with beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean and the Queen Mary.
You'll end in Belmont Shore, a lively oceanside neighborhood with shops & restaurants—a perfect place for lunch on Saturday. And don't miss nearby Italian-inspired Naples, an island community with beautiful homes, walkways, and canals. (and yes, gondolas!)
Fourth Street is a diverse, walkable neighborhood featuring a mix of vintage shops, boutiques, restaurants, cafes, and art galleries. (try Alder & Sage for coffee, brunch, and plenty of dog-watching opportunities! -Chessa)
The Queen Mary is a historic mid-1900s British ocean liner that has been transformed into a permanent hotel and museum, with daily tours and exhibits and several dining options on board. It's across the harbor from downtown; we've enjoyed the walk over the bridge to get there or you can take the free Passport shuttle from downtown.
In addition to Uber and Lyft, Long Beach has bike share, scooters, and the free Passport shuttle that stops in Downtown, near the Queen Mary, and in Shoreline Village.
Long Beach itself is very bike-friendly with an extensive network of bike lanes. (may we suggest a self-directed public art tour?)
Rent bikes via app from the city's bike share program. There are 109 hubs throughout the city, including a station right across the street from the hotel and another next to the venue. (I'm not *suggesting* you bike to our wedding...but it would be absolutely amazing if you do. –Dan)
Ballast Point / Beachwood Brewing / Trademark Brewing
If you have more time: a day trip to Catalina Island / pedal swan boats around Rainbow Lagoon / kayak through the canals in Naples / take a jog around Shoreline Aquatic Parkdrink at Baby Gee / many more ideas in the Tour LBC app. Text us if you have questions, we want you to have the best time. Enjoy!
Yes, we did pick the hottest month of the year for our wedding... but Long Beach is typically cooler than most of southern California in August, so we should have beautiful weather :) Expect nonstop sunshine and temperatures in the mid-80s during the day and temperatues in the 60s at night.
Free parking is available in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church lot at 1001 E Third St, one block from the venue. We'll also provide transportation for guests staying at hotels downtown.
Our theme is festive summer cocktail party. For gentlemen, pants and a dress shirt; suits & ties are encouraged. For the ladies: cocktail dresses, dressy suits, or festive jumpsuits are all acceptable. Please, no shorts, jeans, or sandals.
The ceremony and reception are both indoors (with A/C!).
